Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Captain Lachlan Bellraven's discussion Favorite type of razors ? in the group Order of the Razor
"I currently use a USN issue Vietnam era safety razor. It was my father's and now mine. I have always liked the feeling of a fresh straight razor shave. it also works beautifully for profiling a beard. However, I have only ever used borrowed…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion What is needed to start a basic Steampunk outfit/costume?
"Being the only guy to reply thus far, I should state that I do not wear a corset. Basic men's costumes tend to require a waistcoat, shirt, pants, shoes or boots, a top coat, and top hat. Then you have the bits and bobs which typically include a…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion Why did you choose to be a Lord, Lady, Countess, Captain, etc?
"I've had a few people get upset about the fact that I go by the title "Reverend". They all think that I am somehow impersonating a member of the clergy. However, I am actually a Christian minister. The only things I changed were my…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Captain Lachlan Bellraven's discussion Overly spiffy hurty things, or Why are so many Steampunk firearms so steampimped ?
"I'm going for a fantasy style American Civil War uniform. My revolver is an electrical coil atop a Colt Navy with wires ran down into the barrel. It will have a plastic counterpart with the orange tip."

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Captain Lachlan Bellraven's discussion Overly spiffy hurty things, or Why are so many Steampunk firearms so steampimped ?
"I like to think it is because steampunk associates tech (as represented in the neo-Victorian fashion) with elegance and social status. This association shows in all parts the aesthetic. I, myself dislike too much in lines of the mechanics and such.…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion Decor or Functional? What do you use your Goggles, Canes, watches, etc. for?
"My kit pieces are mostly functional. I don't use goggles as they don't fit with my character. However, all of the watches and such have a use. The canes I are only really used if my trick knee is acting up (arthritis and then stabbed in it…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Lady Rayna Keller's discussion Weapons at conventions....what are your experiences?
"I have found that more cons in my area allow blades to be carried "peace tied" or zip tied into their scabbards, but restrict realistic firearms. I have never been to any place that restricts the carry of Nerf or obviously toy weapons of…"

Rev. Demetrius Hunt replied to Sgt. Ian MacBrooke's discussion Hats, Toppers and Chapeaux
"Given that the term "Celt" seems to be an umbrella term that includes a rather vast number of tribes and clans that share a distant ancestry, I think a shared fashion sense may be a bit beyond that connection. I think it may have more to…"

Music for the Master

So, does anyone here have music that instantly makes them think of Poe's works? For me, Alice Cooper's "Ballad of Dwight Frye" makes me think of his poem "Alone". "Sound of Silence", in any of it's renditions, strikes the same chords in me as "Sonnet to Science."See More

Profile Information

About you:
I'm a Christian minister and avid reenactor. I also enjoy most things geeky, reading, writing, and building characters and costumes.

Just to Know

I am always in search of local Steampunks and am interested in putting together a casual group and/or event to raise interest in Steampunk.
